Whether Pakistan go into the third Test with any realistic chance or not, Shoaib Akhtar has some serious business lined up in Bangalore. The Pakistan paceman, having watched Aaja Nachle this weekend, was floored by the sensational return of Madhuri Dixit to the silver screen and is now all set to seriously enter Indian cinema. Akhtar has requested a famous Bollywood producer to meet him so that he can start reading scripts, keeping his fingers crossed that some time he, too, will get a chance to act with his eternal favourite actress. “Yes, I got a call from the producer and I have asked him to come and meet me in Bangalore with the script. I’ll go through the script before taking a decision,” he reveals. His visit to a famous hair salon on Sunday night in Woodstreet, however, remains incidental of his future intentions.

Having completely recovered from a bout of chest infection and fever, Akhtar admitted that he was in a bad shape when the Kolkata Test started. “Honestly, I didn’t know how I bowled my first two deliveries. I was completely blank and felt dizzy. I didn’t even know where I pitched the ball and who I was bowling to. I couldn’t sight the batsman because my head was badly in a spin.”

He also insisted that the decision to play at the Eden was his own and there were certain sentiments attached to it. “I have an eight-year-old connection with this ground. I still remember when a bowler of Waqar’s stature was made to sit out and I was played in his place in the 1999 Asian Test championship against India.

“That was the turning point of my career after the two wickets (of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar) I got in two deliveries. So I owe a lot to this ground and I badly wanted to play here, and also help the team in this crucial match. I am feeling much better now and I promise to go flat out like in the last Test if we get to bowl again here,” he says.
