The cricketer and actress Mona Singh dressed as Ravana and Sita for a TV dance show Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has taken a strong exception to off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and TV actress Mona Singh dressing up as Ravana and Sita on a television dance show. The Jathedar said though they have received no written complaint against the two celebrities, no one can mock at the religious traditions and Gods.Certain sections of the Hindu organisations have also taken an umbrage at the show. “How can Ravana and Sita dance together? There has to be an end to such parodies,” said Gurbachan Singh. He said both Bhajji and Mona were Sikhs, and he, as the head of the community, would not like its members to mock at religious personalities. “We believe in respecting all religions,” he added. “I am waiting for a written complaint and a report will be filed thereafter. And if the two stars are found guilty of religious misconduct, action will be initiated against them,” said the Jathedar. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Avtar Singh Makkar said he was not aware of the episode, but feels that personalities who were role models for the coming generations should desist from such mischief. Makkar said the Akal Takht Jathedar was entitled to act against them if they had done something wrong.
