Following the footsteps of its competitors in the domestic aviation sector, Air sahara today announced a ten per cent across-the-board hike in its regular fares from Sunday, but did not touch its schemes and special offers meant to attract passengers.

“We have decided to increase our regular fares in both classes (executive and economy) in all sectors. But we are not touching any of our special schemes and we would announce more schemes soon,” Air Sahara CEO U. K. Bose told The Indian Express.

The special schemes include ‘auction on-line’, ‘sixers’, ‘super sixers’, ‘advance purchase’ (akin to apex fares of IA), ‘steal-a-seat’ and ‘buy a fare’. Indian Airlines and Jet Airways have already announced a ten per cent hike from November 10 in all sectors. The decision to hike fares, all airlines said, was primarily aimed at offsetting the hike in ATF prices and airport user charges like navigation, landing and parking fees.
