Ahmedabadgears up to fight chikungunya

The Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner has set a deadline of eight days to reach chikungunya-affected households in the city and destroy larvae of aedes mosquito, responsible for its spread.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner has set a deadline of eight days to reach chikungunya-affected households in the city and destroy larvae of aedes mosquito, responsible for its spread.

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has also roped in NCC and NSS cadets and starting Saturday, about 250 cadets will be trained to identify aedes larvae and eliminate them.

AMC data shows the number of chikungunya cases has increased to around 6,000 and the civic body has trained the link workers who are going door-to-door.

So far, the workers have visited around 5,500 houses in the worst-affected areas and have found aedes larvae presence in more than 3,000 househo

The AMC has compiled data on the worst-affected areas with the help of addresses of chikungunya patients in city’s various hospitals.
