MUMBAI, DECEMBER 28: Left-arm spinner Santosh Agarhari (5-27) weaved a web of discomfort around IES VN Sule Guruji batsman at the Elf-Vengsarkar Academy ground on Tuesday. Agarhari’s five-wicket haul saw Rizvi Springfield clinch a vital 35-run lead on day two of the four-day MSSA-Colgate Inter School Harris Shield final.
Chasing Rizvi’s first inning score of 226 were bowled out for 191. At draw of stumps, Rizvi were 12 for one in their second essay.
Resuming at their overnight score of 30-2, IES were served well by a 72-run partnership for the third wicket between captain Vineet Indulkar (73: 189b, 229m, 10×4) and nightwatchman Adish Pathaniya (36: 95b, 108m, 6×4). But once left-arm spinner Shudhanshu Mishra trapped Indulkar leg before wicket, the rest surrendered meekly with six wickets falling for the addition of 91 runs.
Agarhari who bowled a tight length returned impressive figures of 29-17-27-5.

Rane, Raghavan slam tons
A century by Rohit Rane (124: 14×4) and half centuries by Maharashtra Ranji player Nikhil Dixit (72: 8×4), left-hander Amit Dhulap (61: 9×4), and Anant Tiwari (batting 55: 9×4) helped Varun Shipping to pile 367 for five against Mumbai Customs on the first day of the three day Times Shield B Division Cricket Tournament at the Karnatak ground, Cross Maidan here on Tuesady.
The third wicket pair of Dixit and Dhulap overcame the early loss of openers to add 122 runs. After the departure of these two, Rane and Tiwari put on 144 runs for the fifth wicket.
A 199-run stand for the fourth wicket between centurion CKV Raghavan (batting 140: 21×4, 2×6) and CD Thomson (75: 9×4) enabled Indian Navy to score 313 for 6 against New India Assurance.
A six-wicket haul by medium-pacer Manish Sakhalkar (6-70) was instrumental in Union Bank restricting Bank of Maharashtra to 177. In reply, Union Bank were 61 for 1 at close of play.
The day’s best bowling performance came from veteran left-arm spinner Kirit Patel. He took seven wickets for 68 runs off 21 overs to bowled out Chowgule for 257. But Chowgule hit back to capture four Bank of India wickets for 52 runs.
Jaideep Narse of Central Bank was unlucky to miss his century by seven runs as his side notched 275 against Mumbai Port Trust. Medium-pacer Ashish Mahadeshwar (3-79) and Sanjeev Shrivastav (5-74) did most of the damage.
Half centuries by Raju Govekar (66), Sudhir Sawant (53) and Sunil Malik (64) helped B Arunkumar to post 325 for 8 against Dena Bank. Left-arm spinner Prashant Sawant was the pick of the bowlers with 5-77.
