New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming will be in India next week. Not on a spy mission before the real tour begins on September 26 but to shoot a commercial. Fleming, one of several top cricketers contracted to a liquor manufacturer, joins a long list of players from Australia and New Zealand who’ve visited India recently.
Though the schedule of the elegant left-hander is yet to be confirmed, there are indications that he could be here ‘sometime next week’. This much was confirmed by New Zealand team manager Lindsay Crocker when contacted by The Sunday Express.
Fleming will be the third trans-Tasman cricketer to model for the whisky brand in the past week. He follows Aussies Brett Lee — who also lent his name to a ‘hunt’ for fast bowlers — and ODI skipper Ricky Ponting. Lee and Ponting apart, the sub-continent has hosted Aussie Test skipper Steve Waugh and coach John Buchanan, and West Indies skipper Brian Lara.
