David Beckham and his wife, Victoria, were pictured in today’s British newspapers frolicking in the snow at a French ski resort after reports he had an affair with his former personal assistant in Spain.

‘‘We have been through a lot worse that this, and we’re definitely going to get through this,’’ Victoria Beckham was quoted as saying in The Sun. A Sunday newspaper reported that the England soccer captain and Real Madrid star had a sexual relationship with Rebecca Loos in Madrid between September and December while his pop star wife was in England.

A series of sexually explicit phone text messages allegedly sent by Beckham and Loos were published as alleged proof of an affair.

Beckham issued a statement on Sunday describing the story as “ludicrous” but stopping short of denying the allegations.

The Beckhams were photographed yesterday in the French ski resort of Courchevel, hugging each other and with David carrying Victoria on his back. “Posh’s joy at Alpine reunion” said The Sun, whose sister paper News of the World broke the story on Sunday.

Tabloids have begun to dig into the past of Loos, who worked for Beckham’s management company SFX Group and acted as his assistant in Madrid until he cut ties with the firm in December.

The wife of British tennis player Greg Rusedski was quoted as saying she had been suspicious of Loos, who used to work on SFX’s tennis accounts.

“I did warn Victoria about this girl – I warned her last year in fact,” Lucy Rusedski told The Mirror newspaper. “I was aware of her when she was on the tennis circuit.”

More allegations could come out. Celebrity public relations expert Max Clifford cited rumours that a second woman was set to make similar claims.

Rumours about the state of Beckham’s marriage have abounded since he moved to Real Madrid last summer from Manchester United.

Victoria, a former member of the Spice Girls, has declined to move full-time to Spain as she tries to rekindle her flagging pop career. She spends most of her time in England with the couple’s two young sons, 5-year-old Brooklyn and 18-month-old Romeo.
