HYDERABAD, AUG 17: It was a day of apologies in Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Thursday with several members expressing regrets over their remarks against each other even as the Opposition leader Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s insinuatory observation against Speaker K Pratibha Bharathi created furore in the House.

The apologies galore began with Bharatiya Janata Party floor leader A Indrasena Reddy, who withdrew his remarks against Congress members that had earlier triggered noisy scenes and storming of the well by Opposition, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for ten minutes.

After the House re-assembled, Reddy expressed regrets over his remark, prompting Congress member D Srinivas, who was earlier involved in a war of words with BJP leader, to reciprocate similar sentiments.

However, there was no let up in the frayed tempers with ruling TDP members demanding an unconditional apology from Congress floor leader Rajasekhar Reddy for his alleged "derogatory remark" against the Chair earlier in the day.

The Legislative Affairs Minister Y Ramakrishnudu, supported by his party colleagues, insisted that the Opposition leader should not be allowed to speak unless he tendered apology for "casting aspersions against the Speaker and lowering the dignity of the House".

Amid surcharged atmosphere, the TDP member and popular film comedian Babu Mohan made certain observations, apparently in a lighter vein, triggering a wave of protests from women Congress members who demanded an apology from the actor-turned-politician for "denigrating women".
