PUNE, March 22: Ammunition Factory, Khadki, a unit under the Ordnance Factory Board, ministry of defence, has won the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi National Quality award – Best of All 1997 and Commendation Certificate for 1996.

The awards were presented at a glittering ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan, at the hands of Surjit Singh Barnala, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Food and Consumer Affairs and President of Bureau of Indian Standards S Ramaratnam, Senior General Manager, recieved the award on behalf of the factory.

The Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Awards instituted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, is the highest quality award in India. The award is decided on the based on the results of a rigorous assessment process by the BIS. The assessment criteria involves all the critical areas of operations such as leadership, policies and strategies, human resource management, resource processes, customer satisfaction, impact on environment and business results. The final choice is made after a physical assessment of the short-listed applicants by a team of experts nominated by the BIS.
