Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani today urged the UPA Government not to repeal POTA, saying it is a useful tool to deal with terrorists.

At a meeting to mark the birth celebrations of Jana Sangh leader Shyama Prasad Mookerjee, Advani said that ‘‘without POTA, many of the punishments that had to be given could not have been given; many of the funds that had been confiscated could not have been confiscated’’.

He urged the UPA Government to consult the Army, paramilitary forces and police who are dealing with terrorism day in and day out before taking any action on the matter.
