Advani also ruled out the BJP joining ranks with some other party for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh next year.

“The improved situation in the state with the coming of Rajnath Singh will further become better in the next year. With such a good performance expected, I am sure that we don’t need any other party’s support.”

Asked if the expulsion of former chief minister Kalyan Singh from the party could negate its chances in the state, Advani said, “the expulsion will do more harm to Mr Kalyan Singh than the BJP.”
