‘‘The BJP has lost but India and its democracy have emerged as winners in J-K,’’ Advani said at a function here to mark the birth centenary of Jayprakash Narayan.

He said: ‘‘I am satisfied that my Government could ensure impartial polls in J-K.’’ He complimented the outgoing National Conference government for this. He saw in the elections a clear victory for democracy as well as for J-K people.

Advani recalled JP’s role in upholding democracy. He said the one point which the Janata Party government in 1977 and the present NDA Government share is their commitment to democracy.
