Renowned filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan on Tuesday submitted his resignation as chairman of the Kerala Chalachithra Academy, allegedly following differences with Cultural Affairs Minister G. Karthikeyan.Submitting his resignation letter to Kerala CM A.K. Antony, Adoor said it would be difficult for him to ‘‘continue in the position under the present situation.’’ To a question, he said he was ‘‘fed up with the interference’’ by the Cultural Affairs minister in the functioning of the academy. Citing an example, he said academy secretary K. Mohankumar was transferred from the position yesterday even without consulting him. Adoor is scheduled to leave on Thursday on a foreign tour.(UNI)
