CHANDIGARH, July 23: Punjabi singer Sukhi Brar, announced the launching of the ``Punjab Academy of Performing Arts'' at a conference held in the city, here, on Wednesday night. The academy, Brar said, was a reaction to the ``cultural pollution corroding the priceless heritage of Punjab.'' The academy, she added, would be a non-political body involving artists, intellectuals and journalists who would work towards show-casing the heritage of Punjab to others parts of India and rest of the world. The activities of the current year, Brar said, would centre around the celebration of 300 years of Khalsa. Branches of the academy would be set up both in India and abroad.
