Are wedding bells about to ring for Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan?

An alliance may just be on the cards with the Bachchan and the Rai families reportedly showing more than just tepid interest.

According to sources, Ajitabh Bachchan, Abhishek’s uncle, was in Bangalore on Friday to show the horoscopes of both stars to Chandrshekhara Swamy.

Asked if Abhishek would tie the knot with the former Miss World, an evasive Ajitabh reportedly said, ‘‘That is up to destiny.’’

The alliance, rumours have it, was first proposed by the two mothers. It is said that the families approached the Bangalore-based swami fearing widespread publicity if they got in touch with astrologers in Mumbai or in Delhi. Chandrashekhara Swamy is said to be a close associate of the Rai family. After much debate over who should play the mediator, Ajitabh was finally approached.

It is said that Chandrashekhara Swamy has given clearance to the horoscopes.
