AAI officers threaten mass casual leave from February 4

NEW DELHI, January 28: The work-to-rule agitation by the officers of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), International Airport Division, and the management reached a deadlock today with the officers rejecting the proposal related to pay parity and threatening to go on mass casual leave from February 4. Earlier in the day, Ranjan Chatterjee, chairman, AAI, and S.K. Narula (member, personnel) were gheraoed by the agitating officers.

According to A.C. Gupta, secretary, international AAI officers association: “The management has offered to implement revised pay structure from 1.1.97, but we wouldn’t accept it…we have given them time till January 31, otherwise we will be forced to proceed on a casual leave from February 4.” According to Gupta, they are also planning a pen-down, tool-down agitation if their demands are not met.

However, S.K. Narula, member, AAI personnel, said that efforts were on to resolve the issue. “We’ll raise this issue with the board, but I’ll doubt if they’ll go on a casualleave,” he said.

However, the officers seem adamant on a mass casual leave. “We will strike work at all five international airports if our demands are not met,” added Gupta.
