PANCHKULA, July 23: A host of models, nay super models, setting the stage on fire with their dazzling looks, perfect figures and outlandish but creative outfits — that’s what the fashion show held this evening at North Park resort was all about.

Top models, including Helen Brodie, Shweta Menon, Bipasha Basu and Manpreet Brar, sashayed on the ramp, displaying outfits designed by the students of National Institute of Fashion Designing, Chandigarh.

The first round had the models clad in white outfits — denoting peace for the world. Small kids, also clad in white, with flowers in their hands, set an upbeat mood for the evening.

Starting a good hour late, the show caught speed as one round followed another punctuated by dances presented by group “Dynamite”. A couple of rounds and the crowd passed its verdict — Manpreet Brar and Helen Brodie had clearly won the hearts followed by Shweta Menon and Bipasha Basu.

Amidst hootings and catcalls, the super models cast their spell on the audience — clothed in outfits that drew inspiration from nature or the fantasy world. The round of “natural knots” made use of dry flowers, feathers, leaves, fake fur, petals. Garments had simple cuts but magnified cuffs and collars in the “Cuffs and Collars” round.

These were followed by rounds with emphasis on checks, colour fusion and floral accessories. Garments were not wearable but definitely creative.

In the last few rounds, models wore garments dedicated to Indian heritage. The grand finale was a round in which models exhibited flowing pastel coloured kurtas with churidars.

Other models who participated included Ayesha Prem, Joey Mathews, Bhawna Singh and Mallika.

However Preeti Mankotia, former Miss India, could not participate since she had food poisoning and had to be hospitalised. “Dynamite”, the dance troupe too had the audience tapping their feet with peppy numbers like remix of “Aye mere zohrazabin”, “Miss India”, and Punjabi numbers like “Balle Balle” and “Jugni”.

The show was well choreographed by Aparna and Tanya and compered by Pallab Bose. While it was a feast for eyes for those sitting in the front, people at the back had to struggle to have a glimpse.
