A Ghandat’s judicial custody extended

July 8: A city metropolitan magistrate, rejecting the bail plea of sitting mla and chairman of Abhyudaya Co-operative Bank Sitaram Ghandat and Mhatarba Kane, a bank director, today remanded them to further judicial custody till July 22.

The additional chief metropolitan magistrate, S N Chimade, however, released seven other bank directors on bail of Rs 50,000 with a surety in like amount. The economic offences wing of city police had arrested 17 accused including directors and officials of the bank and some builders in connection with the Rs 4.68 core scam.
