S A S NAGAR, June 16: In an anti-encroachment drive launched by the Punjab Urban Planning and Urban Development Authority (PUDA), about 70 kiosks (Khokas) in Phase-I were removed today, causing serious resentment among residents of the area.
While PUDA officials claimed to have acted against illegal encroachments on PUDA’s prime land as per the provision of Punjab Regulatory Act, the residents say they had no prior information regarding demolition. The demolition drive carried out under the supervision of Estate Officer, PUDA, started at 4 p.m .
