Congress President Sonia Gandhi constituted a seven-member panel on Wednesday to give suggestions on “re-energising” the party machinery in view of the coming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Chaired by Defence Minister AK Antony, the committee includes AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, West Bengal PCC chief P R Dasmunshi, J- K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar, AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik and National Commission for Scheduled Tribes chairperson Urmila Singh.

The committee will submit its suggestions to Gandhi within 15 days. The decision to set up a group to draw roadmaps for future elections was taken at the Congress Working Committee meet last Saturday in the context of the party’s electoral reverses in Assembly elections over the past two years.
