BATALA, April 23: The police have registered a case of land grabbing against seven persons, including a woman, of this industrial town.

Senior Superintendent of Police Lok Nath Angra told mediapersons that the alleged accused had illegally constructed five shops on the land of former Director General of Police (Home) R.K. Puri, opposite Methodist High School, here. Angra said that Puri had lodged a written complaint to the police that Rakesh Kumar and his brother Bua Ram had constructed two shops, Gian Chand had also constructed two shops and one shop was constructed by a painter on his land.

The SSP said that Ashok Kumar had sold the land by saying that it belonged to his daughter-in-law Savita Rani and brother-in-law Manohar Lal. The trio had conspired to cheat the former DGP by preparing fraudulent documents.

The police have registered a case against Savita Rani, Manohar Lal, Ashok Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Bua Ram, Gian Chand and Hardev Raj under Sections 447, 420, 405, 467, 468 and 471 IPC, but no arrest has been made so far.
