At least 60 people were killed in western Uganda on Thursday when a fuel truck and a passenger bus collided and exploded into flames. ‘‘The fuel tanker’s brakes failed and it crashed into the bus and exploded,’’ police spokesman John Kimera said. ‘‘There were no survivors from the bus.’’
The accident occurred at 2.00 pm at Lutoto southwest of the capital Kampala. Kimera said police had rushed to the scene.‘‘I would imagine some people died in the crash and some were burnt to death,’’ Kimera said. ‘‘The bus was completely burnt and we are waiting for a pathologist to arrive and determine how many people have died,’’ he said.
