AMBALA, Sept 8: Six persons having patronage of the Haryana Minister of State for Transport Raj Kumar Saini representing Naraingarh Assembly constituency, were arrested following pressure by the leaders of the Indian National Lok Dal partymen who were agitated over the assault on local youth wing president Gurpal Singh on September 4.
Gurpal was waylaid by the assailants while he was returning from his village Akbarpur to Naraingarh and was injured after they attacked him with lathis and sticks. He was saved by some Army jawans passing in their vehicle and was rushed to the Civil Hospital Naraingarh with head injuries.
A meeting of the INDL leaders held under the chairmanship of district general secretary Nasib Singh Nangoli, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the registeration of the case under section of the IPC and wanted that the section 120 B and 307 of the IPC should have been added with sections 148, 149, 341 and 506 by the police. They alleged that the police had acted under pressure from the Minister to make the case weak, as one of the assailants – Ravinder – was a close relative of Krishan Lal Joshi, who was his close confident.
