KHARAR, June 23: The Roopnagar District Health Administration has made elaborate arrangements to meet any eventuality arising out of floods during the ensuing rainy season and 47 medical teams have been constituted to undertake work.Disclosing this, here yesterday, Roopnagar civil Surgeon, Dr. Rajinder Singh,told ENS that out of these teams, 15 are mobile ones while the remaining 32 teams are stationary. Mobile teams will work under the administrative control of Senior Medical Officer (SMO) under the guidance of the concerned SDM.He said the district has been divided into three zones, and each zone is under the administrative control of an SDM. While the DHO will be the nodul officer for the entire district, the SMO incharge of a block will be the nodul officer for that particular block, who can either be contacted on phone or through wireless.Dr. Singh informed that lists of flood prone areas in the district have been updated with the help of the district administration. Sufficient quantity of medicines and anti-snake venom vaccines have been made available at the health centres in the district, he said. DDT and halogen tablets etc. have also been made available for use in case of an emergency, Dr Singh said. The civil surgeon has issued strict warning to traders not to sell over-ripe fruits, vegetables, cane juice and also to stop selling meat in unhygienic conditions in order to control spread of cholera and other viral diseases.Dr Singh said that teams led by DHO and Dr. A. K. Khullar (DIO) have already started working and have collected 59 water samples from various sources in the district which have been sent for analysis.Meanwhile, all health institutions in the district, including civil hospitals, dispensaries, subsidiary health centres and primary health centres have been inspected by the civil surgeon after he assumed charge.He claimed that emergency services have improved in all health centres while cleanliness drives are on.
