VADODARA, Sept 20: About 250 delegates from various parts of the country and abroad, including some internationally acclaimed orthopaedic surgeons, would be participating in the 16th National Conference on Paediatric Orthopaedics (continuing education programme) organised by Patna-based Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation here from Monday.

Addressing reporters here on Sunday, Foundation chairman Bishnupada Mukhopadhaya and senior office-holder D Taneja said that the four-day programme — to be held at the Training Centre, Fertiliser Nagar, GSFC — would be inaugurated by GSFC Chairman K D Jeswani. Senior-most surgeon G V Merchant from Gujarat would also be honoured on the occasion.

Among the visiting experts, Dilip Pal (USA) and Magsaysay awardee P K Sethi (Jaipur) would deliver educative lectures during the programme.

Other distinguished speakers would include N Laud, A Johari, Benjamin, Sriram, Chacko, S Dhar, J Mukhopadhaya, P M Desai, V Pande, J Sharma, Devdoss, S Bhattacharya, D A Patel and P K Kanabar.

The 16-year-old Foundation plans to start a special course for para-medical staff in various specialisations and super-specialisations in orthopaedics. They said since that they had recently formed an Orthopaedic Association of SAARC countries, they would start holding various programmes on subjects of common academic interests.

A cultural evening would also be organised on September 23 at the same place. Among others, a number of local members of the legislative assembly are expected to attend the programme.
