34 people injured in Jammu blast

At least 34 persons, including six security personnel, were injured when militants hurled a grenade at a CRPF vehicle.

At least 34 persons, including six security personnel, were injured when militants hurled a grenade at a CRPF vehicle in Banihal along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, official sources said in Jammu.

The grenade exploded near the vehicle at Banihal bus stand in Ramban district, wounding 34 persons including six CRPF and police personnel.

The explosion caused panic among people. Police rushed to the spot and evacuated the injured to a nearby hospital where the condition of four was serious.

Two seriously injured CRPF personnel including Deputy Commandant S Yadav were airlifted and admitted to Government Medical College Hospital. Two other seriously injured were brought by road while 12 others were rushed to Srinagar.

Police and security personnel launched search operations in the area to track down culprits responsible for the attack.
