THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEC 5: Over 150 law teachers and lawyers from 32 countries will participate in the inaugural conference of a newly-formed International Association of Law Persons - Global Alliance for Justice Education (GAJE) - to be held here from December 8 to 17.Governor Justice Sukhdev Sing Kang will inaugurate the conference. Fali S Nariman, MP and president of Bar Association of India, will deliver the presidential address. Vice-Chancellor of National University of Juridical Studies Dr N R Madhava Menon, who is the Indian representative in the international steering committee of GAJE, told a press conference that the deliberations of the conference are likely to have tremendous impact on legal education in India.Dr Menon said that for quite some time several law professors involved in legal education around the world had been exchanging their experiences in justice education which brought together a pool of knowledge on socially relevant legal education. The Trivandrum conference is expected to disseminate this knowledge with a view to articulate policies and programmes for changes in education and training of lawyers and judges. A vision statement prepared for National University of Juridical Sciences, Calcutta, will also be presented for discussion at the workshop.
