PANAJI, JUNE 2: Three tourists form Aurangabad, including a women drowned while swimming in the rough sea off Fort Aguada Beach Resort at Sinquerim, yesterday.

The dead have been identified as Ramesh Shinde (48), his wife Chandrakala (45) and Vidyasagar Palkar (45). Palkar while attempting to rescue the couple was drawn into the sea by strong under water currents. Naval helicopters were pressed into service for the rescue operation.

Eight people have lost their lives in the past week across the beaches in Goa while bathing or swimming in the turbulent sea.

Incidently, all the casualities so far are tourists visiting the state.
