The J-K government today admitted in the Assembly that 25 of the 45 militants who surrendered in Nagrota last year were ‘‘not genuine’’. Three people were arrested for ‘‘managing’’ the surrender of the fake militants, said MoS for Home Abdul Rehman Veeri.
In a written reply to a question from A.R. Rather (NC) on the incident — first reported in The Indian Express — Veeri said verification revealed that 25 of the militants who surrendered on November 9 were not genuine. He added that an FIR was filed at Charar-e-Sharief police station and the three accused have got interim bail.
