ROHTAK, June 5: Twenty more striking nurses were today served charge-sheets under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) by the Pt Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) authorities here, according to the PGIMS director office sources.
Sixty PGIMS nurses, who went on an indefinite strike on May 21 last in support of their demands, have been issued charge-sheets under ESMA until now, director D. S. Dubey said. The nursing sisters have decided to dissociate themselves from nurses’ association and form a separate body.
Dubey said that barring one nurse, all others have joined duty. He said 105 staff nurses resumed duty in the morning and many more were to follow suit when the evening and night shift commences.
Meanwhile, the fast unto-death undertaken by nurses’ association general secretary Santosh Hooda, Raj Taneja (nurse) and nursing student Anita, entered third day today.
Meanwhile a doctor on the condition of anonymity said that life saving drugs like dopamine, effeorune and amino phylline were not available in hospital. The patients were made to purchase glucose from market and surgical blades were not available in the hospital.

The striking nurses assembled in front of the office of the civil surgeon and sat on a dharna. They also shouted slogans against the Bansi Lal government a rally was also held, which was addressed by leaders of the Sarv Karamchari Sangh, Haryana, and other opposition parties. They also condemned the government measure of invoking ESMA against the nursing staff and said that the state government would not be able to crush the agitation of the nurses by using the black laws like ESMA.
