KHARAR, July 12: Two members of a family were killed on the spot and two seriously injured when the Fiat car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a Tata-407 mini truck on the Kharar-Morinda highway, near Khanpur village, about three km from here, last evening.

The deceased have been identified as Hukam Singh and Manjeet Kaur, residents of Mohali. Inderjeet Singh and Paramjeet Kaur, also residents of Mohali, who were seriously injuries, were rushed to the Kharar Civil Hospital.

The car was on its way from Mohali towards Ludhiana when the accident took place.

The bodies of the deceased were brought to the Kharar Civil Hospital and handed over to their relatives after postmortem.

The Kharar police have registered a case under Sections 279, 378, 304-A IPC against Karam Singh, driver of the truck (PB-12-A-4976), who has been arrested. The vehicles involved in the mishap have been impounded.
