2 held, MLA detained during civic by-poll

September 24: Two persons have been arrested and 100 detained following large-scale rigging at the Malabar Hill civic by-elections which took place today. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2), Jai Jeet Singh Gunvant, two persons have been arrested on charges of impersonating and for bogus voting.

In another instance, a case has been registered against Jairaj Singh for abusing, senior police officials say, while adding that MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha and 100 others have been detained for unlawful gathering at Malabar Hill.

Meanwhile, party activists were heard complaining to police officials that over 50 to 60 activists captured an election booth in the afternoon hours during polling hours. Police sources said that the case is being investigated.
