NEW DELHI, July 7: The Delhi Police have arrested two persons, allegedly members of the Bawaria tribe, for their alleged involvement in a series of robberies in Gurgaon last year.

The police, however, said that Mahadev, 40, and his relative, Lamboo, 30, were not involved in the spate of robberies in south-west Delhi earlier this year. The duo were arrested from near the the Azadpur Railway tracks in the Adarsh Nagar police station area of north-west Delhi yesterday.

The accused have reportedly confessed to their involvement in at least three robberies in Gurgaon. They also said that six of their associates, who are still absconding, were involved in these incidents. On December 8 last year, the gang had raided three adjoining farmhouses. None of the owners were present when the incidents occurred. But the Bawarias beat up the workers and decamped with their money and jewellery.
