Trouble has been brewing in various parts of the city for the past two days leaving over 18 injured in separate incidents. Minor incidents of stone-throwing were reported from near Parikshitlal Nagar today where police intervention averted flare-up. However, about two hours later, two groups clashed in Gomtipur area where violence had erupted two days ago.While today members of two communities clashed over parking of vehicles, on Wednesday an altercation began over a food bill at a roadside eating joint in Raikhad area and blew out of proportions to reach Jamalpur. In the following violence, six people were seriously injured and five shops ransacked and set ablaze near Jamalpur Darwaza before additional police force and paramilitary forces brought the situation under control. ACP R.V. Puwar said the exact cause today’s clash is yet to be ascertained.On Tuesday, a private bus ran over 14-year-old Pankaj Ambalal Dabhi in Shahpur. Public outrage against the bus driver transformed into communal violence in different parts of the city, police said.An angry mob set the bus ablaze which then rammed into two nearby shops setting them afire. As news of the incident spread, groups belonging to different communities clashed in Gomtipur area. Police claimed violence was triggered over payment of rent to a bicycle store in the area. A total of 35 people have been arrested in the past 24 hours in connection with the incidents, police said.
