The flood situation in Bihar today turned alarming as swollen rivers continued to wreak havoc in 14 districts taking 25 lives so far, official sources said.

While the worst-hit Sitamarhi district accounted for 18 deaths, in adjoining Sheohar, seven people fell to the flood fury, relief department sources said, adding the death toll could be higher as they lost contact with the districts.

The flood-hit districts include Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Supaul, East Champaran, West Champaran, Samastipur, Araria, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur and Siwan.

Darbhanga, Sitamarhi and Sheohar were cut off from the rest of the state with menacingly rising rivers submerging fresh areas in these three districts and also Muzaffarpur and East and West Champaran districts, official sources said.
