Thirteen of the 18 ‘wanted’ Punjab terrorists have given police the slip and crossed the border to find refuge in other countries. So states the confidential report sent by the UT Police to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The report, a copy of which is with The Indian Express, lists the names of the terrorists, the cases they are involved in, the date they were declared proclaimed offenders, and their suspected whereabouts. These are all men wanted by the Chandigarh and Punjab police in various militant activities that occurred in and around Chandigarh in the last 20 years. Most of the terrorists are involved in bomb blasts and were booked under TADA.

Earlier this week, the Home Ministry had sought details of the militants, following which the Chandigarh Police Operations Cell prepared the report.
