Thirteen people were injured, including one in police firing, when stone-pelting mobs indulged in arson and violence in parts of Ahmedabad and huts were also set on fire.
Police recovered the body of a 50-year-old man with stab wounds from the Sabarmati river bed in Elish bridge area of the city. Twelve people were injured when two groups hurled stones and crude bombs in Raikhad locality of Haveli police station.
CRPF personnel were rushed to Jamalpur and Behrampura localities of curfew-bound Haveli and Danilimda police station areas of the city this afternoon following incidents of group clashes and arson. A cluster of huts were set on fire at Jamalpur and two groups indulged in heavy stone-throwing at each other at Behrampura, police sources said.
Police lobbed several tear gas shells to disperse the rioting mobs in these two localities.
