More than 110 bodies have been recovered on Tuesday after two ferry accidents in Bangladesh after one of the sunken vessels was partly lifted from water. The death toll is expected to be over 200, with hundreds still missing.
The bodies were recovered in Fatullah near here, after salvage vessels partly raised one of the ferries that capsized yesterday in the tropical storms lashing central and eastern Bangladesh.
The double-decked ferry MV Mitali-3 was carrying 400 people when it hit another vessel and went down in Buriganga River an hour after sailing for southern Barisal district from Sadarghat terminal in the southern edge of the capital.
State radio said the sunken ferry is likely to be fully salvaged when salvage vessel Hamza reaches the spot on Wednesday.
