CHANDIGARH, June 3: The Municipal Corporation continued their anti-encroachment drive in the city today.
According to sources, about 100 pharis were removed near the Sector 22 market. About 40 phariwalas selling cooler mats on the roadside were also made to vacate the site near the Bijwara market.
The operation team also cleared several buildings in Sector 26 which had violated building by-laws by making partitions, sources added.
Meanwhile, Corporation’s Assistant Commissioner S.M. Sharma has denied that yesterday’s operation in Manimajra was suspended because of the intervention of local councillor. "The demolition operation was suspended due to some administrative reasons," he clarified.
