Near its 100-day mark, the UPA Government has grand plans to post the day with a list of achievements and court publicity, quite like predecessor NDA.
But the alliance surely had not expected its 100 days to be this eventful: Banks shutting down, truckers staying away from roads, inflation threatening to blow out of proportion, a determined Opposition bent upon stalling Parliament, a Budget being passed without discussion and the Common Minimum Programme still a dream.
Yet, Information Officers in the Press Information Bureau have been asked by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to submit ‘‘features’’, listing the achievements of all ministries. While the date for completing the task was August 27, officials are now working overtime to finish the work. They have been directed to list the achievements in the backdrop of the CMP. The PMO, it is learnt, would fine-tune the list.
The Employment News brought out by the Publications Division of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has been directed to publish articles on the achievements of the UPA.
