‘Suspect Sanap went to LTT to steal from passengers, buy snacks’

Sanap’s maternal aunt Meerabai, who stays in the same building as his parents and siblings in Kanjurmarg, said Sanap, who was drinking with his friends till the early hours of of January 5, went to LTT with the intention of stealing from passengers so that he could buy snacks. He didn’t have any money to buy food, she said.

“On January 4, my nephew (Sanap) was sitting in the Karve Nagar area with his friend, Nandkishore Sahu along with a woman who frequently accompanied them for a drink. She asked Chandrabhan to get more snacks and food as they had run out. He took Sahu’s motorcycle to go to LTT,” she said.
Crime branch officers interrogating Sanap said he went to LTT with the intention of stealing from passengers arriving by early morning trains.

Meerabai added, “When he entered the station, he spotted the girl was sitting alone and instead of just stealing from her so that he could pay for the snacks, he raped and murdered her.”
