Women pack more than what they wear for holidays

According to a study, women need 57 items for a two-week trip but they pack thrice.

The average woman only wears a third of what they pack in their holiday suitcase,a new study has found. Overpacking before heading abroad is a common mistake made by millions, and women are the worst culprits taking home unworn around two thirds of the clothes they packed. The study by Debenhams found the average woman needs 57 items for a two-week trip, although many pack three times as much. Nearly 80 per cent of 1,000 women questioned admitted taking extra items. A third said they were caught out by excess baggage charges due to overenthusiastic packing, the ‘Daily Express’ reported.

Of these almost half lied about the weight of their bags to their partner before leaving for the airport. Forty per cent of women admitted they added to the load by shopping for more clothes while away. “Women plan their holiday wardrobe months in advance, with new dresses, shoes, swimwear and accessories. A woman’s worst nightmare is being on holiday and wanting to wear something they’ve left behind,” said Debenhams spokesperson Anne Deegan.
