Why should you have raisin yogurt?

One of the key factors to consider for wholesome health is whether you are having a balanced diet that not only includes your carbohydrates and fats but also protein, and pre- and probiotics. This is the reason why you should have raisin yogurt that can double in as a nutritious sweet treat for children as well, said Mona Narula, a child nutritionist. For the unversed, raisin yogurt refers to setting curd with a handful of raisins added to it, prior to milk curdling.

“Indulge in the goodness of raisin yogurt, a nutritious sweet treat for kids! An upgrade to regular curd as it contains raisins making it rich in prebiotics as well as probiotics that aid in good digestion and boost gut health,” said Narula.

Calling it an age-old ‘dadi maa ka nuskha’ (grandma’s secret recipe), clinical dietitian Garima Goyal said that it is easy to prepare and very healthy for the tummy while offering various other health benefits too. “You just need simple kitchen ingredients and get a recipe with effective remedial properties,” said Goyal.

This combination is highly recommended to cure constipation,” said Soni.

According to Narula, raisin yogurt is packed with calcium for strong bones and antioxidants for a robust immune system. Goyal added, “Raisins contain a mineral called boron which aids in strong bones and joints. This mineral helps in smooth joint movements, thus improving cognitive performance. Combining curd with raisins improves this condition more and helps to build a strong framework for healthy bones and teeth.”

When to have it?

Narula shared that the recipe is a “good mid-meal snack”. According to Goyal, if you feel that your “gut needs a reset” as you are always facing a digestive issue, try including this easy recipe in your diet as it works wonders.

How to make raisin yogurt?

Ingredients

1 bowl – Lukewarm milk
6-7 no – Raisins
1/4tsp – Curd

Method

*Take 1 bowl of lukewarm milk (full fat).
*Add 6-7 raisins to it.
*Take 1/4 tsp curd (use homemade or from the local dairy, not packaged one) to set it.
*Stir it well, cover it with a lid, and set aside overnight
