Winter has its own charm; after all the cold gives us so many excuses to indulge in good food and booze! If you love raising a toast with your friends, then there is nothing better than intoxicating cocktails to shake off a cold-weather chill. So that you can up your winter beverage game, Abhinav Sharma, corporate chef, Factory By Sutra tells us how to make the Indian Spiced Wine, Irish Mule Factory and Maple Old Fashioned cocktails at the comfort of your home.
Maple Old-Fashioned
Ingredients
2 tsp – Maple syrup
1 tsp – Water
1 dash bitters
2 oz – Bourbon whisky
1 – Cinnamon stick
1 – Orange peel
1 – Maraschino cherry
Method
* Combine maple syrup, water and bitters in a glass, stirring until well-blended. Add ice and orange peel, and then pour bourbon on top.
* Garnish with cherry, cinnamon stick and serve.
The Irish Mule
Ingredients
2 oz – Irish whiskey
6 oz – Ginger beer
Juice of half a lime
Lime slices
Mint sprig, for garnish
Ice
Method
* Fill a copper mug with ice. Pour in whiskey and lime juice and then top it with ginger beer. Stir to mix, garnish with lime slices and mint sprig.
Indian Spiced Mulled Wine
Ingredients
½ Bottle – Red wine
1 – Cinnamon stick
2 – Star anise
2 – Cloves
1 – Orange, sliced
1 – Lemon, sliced
50g – Brown sugar
Method
* Place all of the ingredients into a saucepan and simmer gently for 6-8 minutes, without boiling. Alternatively, place the ingredients in your slow cooker and cook on sim until warm (around 1-2 hours, depending on your cooker).
* To serve, pour the mulled wine into heatproof glasses.
