Tata Literature Live! has an enviable line-up of performances.

The Tata Literature Live! Festival, which begins on October 29, has a line-up of eight performances that, curator Quasar Thakore Padamsee says, will make one look at literature in a new way.

Schlock!: Hannah Silva rips apart and chews on 50 Shades of Grey, to comment on sexuality and gender.

Sea Sick: Based on a book by Alanna Mitchell, this part-lecture-part-performance shows us the state of our oceans and how we’re altering the chemistry.

When it Rains: This piece — not based on a published text — by Canadian theatre group, 2b theatre company, is heartbreaking, satirical and visually arresting.

Storm Still: Actor Tanaji Dasgupta and musician Varun Kishore interpret Peter Handke’s Immer Noch Sturm about a 1945 Slovenian uprising against Hitler.

ILA: The play, inspired by Devdutt Pattnaik’s The Pregnant King, transposes the conversation about gender to the ladies compartment of a Mumbai local train.

The River Runs Deep: Dance piece Rhythm Divine II by Astad Deboo Dance Foundation is inspired by the work of Manipuri poet Saratchand Thiyam.

Blank Page: Directed by Sunil Shanbag, this performance is a celebration of Indian poetry that explores identity, political resistance, relationships and poetry writing.

Comedy of Horrors: This piece, commissioned for the festival, marks the directorial debut of Vivaan Shah. It uses elements such as vaudeville, puppetry and mime to mine works of horror for laughs and shudders.
