Over 1 million tech professionals to be hired by India’s non-tech sector: Report

The non-tech sector such as communication media and technology, life sciences and healthcare, energy and resources are all set to give employment to 11.5 lakh tech people by financial year 2027-28 as per Teamlease Digital’s report titled ‘Digital People Supply Chain Report – Tech in Non-Tech’.

As per the report, currently, BFSI and Consulting employ around 2 lakh tech talent which is followed by retail and consumer business with a tech employment of 1.85 lakh. Engineering research and development has employed around 1.43 lakh people whereas life sciences and healthcare, communications media and technology and energy and resources employ 1.05 lakh, 0.9 lakh and 0.42 lakh respectively.

The report further added that Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Gurgaon remain the top locations from a salary and location perspective. In terms of popular job roles, Data Engineer, Business Analyst, and Solutions Architect are still the top positions in BFSI and Consulting; UI/UX Designer, Fullstack Developer, and Game Developer are the top positions in Communication, Media, and Technology (CMT); Graphic Designer, Data Scientist, and Fullstack Developer are the top positions in Retail and Consumer Business; Data Scientist, Java Developer, and QA Engineer are the top positions in Life Sciences and Healthcare; and Embedded Software Engineer, CAD Engineer.
