3 women among 12 Bangladeshis arrested in Tripura while trying to return illegally: Police
The 12 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested near the international border in the Lankamura and Shanmura areas on the outskirts of Agartala.

A day after six Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian touts bound for Kolkata and Chennai were arrested at the Agartala railway station, twelve more people from the neighbouring country, including three women, were arrested in West Tripura district on Sunday for illegally entering Indian territory.
S K Bardhan, inspector of the West Agartala police station, said the 12 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested near the international border in the Lankamura and Shanmura areas on the outskirts of the state capital. “We are interrogating the detainees. We have booked a case under the Foreigners Act and the Passport Act. We produced them in the court today and sought their police remand,” he told reporters.
Bardhan said the arrested people were trying to return to Bangladesh illegally.
Over 200 Bangladeshi nationals and 32 Rohingya people have been arrested by the Government Railway Police, the Border Security Force, police and other agencies at the Agartala railway station, Chandrapur Inter-State Bus Terminus, Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport and other parts of Tripura.
With the rise in the infiltration by foreign nationals, Chief Minister Manik Saha held a meeting with the top BSF brass in July. The BSF has been holding a series of meetings with the Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) at the commander and border outpost levels.
