On the first day of the Winter Session of Parliament that started with jubilation and slogan shouting in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to celebrate the BJP’s spectacular poll wins in the Hindi heartland states, the Lok Sabha adjourned abruptly on Monday after Opposition MPs disrupted the proceedings.
BSP MP Danish Ali, who came to the House hanging two placards on his neck saying “Humiliation to an MP is an insult to Parliament” and “Punish Bidhuri, Save Democracy” ran to the well of the house shouting that he was insulted by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri but no action was taken against him.
Ali was referring to the incident during the special session when Bidhuri had hurled a communal slur against him. The matter is before the Privilege Committee but it has not yet taken the statement from Bidhuri. The committee is expected to meet on December 7 in which Bidhuri is asked to give his version of the incident.

Speaker Om Birla asked Ali not to take the placards inside the house. “You should go out. You are not supposed to take the placards inside the House,” said Birla.
But Ali stood there alone and continued shouting. In a few minutes, Opposition MPs stood up in support of Ali and the Speaker adjourned the proceedings till noon.
Before the House met, the BJP MPs stood up, clapping and shouting slogans in support of Modi as he entered the Lok Sabha. “Baar Baar Modi, Teesri Baar Modi,” the MPs shouted.
The Prime Minister was seated in the front row along with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
