The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Thursday predicted light to moderate rainfall in parts of India over Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh in the next two days. In its latest bulletin, the weather department said isolated hailstorms are likely over Uttarakhand between April 20-21. Rajasthan will witness isolated thunderstorms/duststorms during the next 24 hours, IMD said. The bulletin stated that light/moderate isolated rainfall is also expected in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during the next 5 days. 📌 Delhi witnessed partly cloudy skies on Thursday morning recording a minimum temperature of 23.6 degrees Celsius. According to IMD, there is a possibility of drizzle expected during the day, providing relief from the scorching heat. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 38 degrees Celsius, news agency PTI reported. Delhi government has directed schools to not conduct afternoon assemblies due amid the high temperature in the city. 📌 In Mumbai, a heatwave warning has been issued for the next two to three days. On Wednesday, the city recorded the third highest day temperature in April in the last one decade as the Santacruz observatory of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) registered 38.8 degrees Celsius, which is five degrees above normal. A warning has also been issued for neighbouring districts including Thane and Palghar. 📌 Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand. In its bulletin, IMD stated that eastern areas of Uttar Pradesh, Central and East India, and interior parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra are expected to experience temperatures between 40-44 degrees Celsius. With Bihar experiencing severe heat wave for the past week, the Patna district administration ordered all schools to wind up all the classes by 10:45 am starting from Wednesday. In view of the conditions, the Odisha state government preponed summer vacation to April 21 for all government, private and Aided Schools for classes up to Class 12, news agency ANI reported. The IMD has issued a warning on the possibility of heat strokes and asked people to avoid stepping out in the afternoon. After a week of light rains and relatively low temperatures, Pune is now witnessing rising temperatures. Several parts of the city like Koregaon Park, Magarpatta etc have already reported temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
