It was a vague tip off that a constable from crime branch (unit VI) received – that a person who had committed a murder in Tamil Nadu was now working in one of the petrol chemical tankers in Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF). The tip-off received on October 1 along with some deft investigation by the crime branch helped them track a person down on Wednesday who had committed a murder in Tamil Nadu earlier this year and had since been hiding in Mumbai. An officer from the crime branch said that police constable Nagnath Jadhav received the tip off on October 1. All it said was that a person who had committed a murder in south India was hiding in RCF. The police team then went to RCF on where they went through around 30- 40 containers in a span of eight hours. Eventually, in the early hours of Wednesday, one of the employees tried to escape from the spot. The police team led by inspector Bharat Ghone chased him down and eventually overpowered him. The person identified himself as Chinna Aiyanar (24) and told the police he was from Vellore in Tamil Nadu. When the police team asked him why he tried to escape, he claimed he was leaving for some work. The police then shared his name with Vellore police and asked them if he was an accused in any murder case. The Vellore police sent the photograph of the accused which matched with that of Aiyanar. A team from Vellore south police station of Tamil Nadu police then reached the city and took custody of Aiynaar. The police said Aiyanar was allegedly charged with the murder of a friend after they had consumed alcohol in March. The police further found that Aiyanar was a history-sheeter with eight offences registered against him including the murder case in which he was arrested.
